We were talking casually and then I asked… “Why do you want to work for this company?” My friend simply replied, “The pay is good and the benefits are wonderful”. How much are they paying you?… He replied…$2200!
To him $2200 might be good money but the question is how long will it last? What do I mean by that? Put it this way, is the $2200 a month going to feed him for life?
Expenses
Let’s do some simple math calculation. In Singapore, USA and probably most of the other countries these are probably the “standard” lifestyle everyone is looking for:
1. Get married, of course!
2. Buying a house or apartment if you are in Singapore.
3. Buying a car and we all know that the car prices in Singapore are through the roof.
4. Starting a family, a boy or a girl first?
5. Sending your children to school.
6. Paying more taxes as you start your family.
7. Give back to your parents who have brought you up.
I know not everyone will go through the same standard lifestyle. Some will choose to remain single but let’s take this for an illustration, if everyone is going through the standard lifestyle do you think that their monthly pay will be able to support their living? Let’s take into consideration that there will be promotions and pay raise. After 10 years of hard work, the pay increases by 50% which is now $3300.
Here’s a list of the amount spent (estimated):
1. You need money for your wedding, make it $20,000 which you have loan from your relatives - $1000 a month payback for the next 20 months.
2. A new house or apartment, how much are you going to pay for that? - $800 a month.
3. A car, it’s pretty expensive here in Singapore so being conservative… - $500 a month. (For his amount you’ll probably get a 1.2cc car in Singapore)
4. Give birth to a baby boy - additional $300 a month.
5. Then another baby girl - additional $300 a month.
By now the expenses is about $2900… will the $3300 be enough? Frankly I don’t think so. Think about it. The children will eventually be going for their higher education and we all know that it will need a lot of money. The cycle will start all over again. The more you spend, the harder you try to work for money and most of the time it gets even tougher.
Want out of the rat race?
Who doesn’t? I do and I’m sure most of you would. Do I have an answer for you? There’s no right or wrong answer, your answer have to come from deep inside you. Do you want money to work for you or do you want to keep working for money? Network marketing opportunities is one area you can look into when it comes to money working for you. Working month after month for a pay check will not be your answer if you want to be financially free in life. Start looking around… network marketing is one.
