Facebook Ads Ban in UK?

by Terry Tay on August 8, 2007

UK Government went on to seize advertising on a [tag]social networking site[/tag], Facebook.

But why?

The ads shown on [tag]Facebook[/tag] was set on rotation and all the ads will randomly be rotate on the millions of profile pages that Facebook have. Some how, some UK based companies ads were being place along side with British National Party

According to Wikipedia: The British National Party (BNP) is a British/White Nationalist political party in Great Britain.[10] It has 56 councillors in local government in England, but is not represented in the Parliament of the United Kingdom. In the 2005 general election, the British National Party received 0.7% of the popular vote finishing 8th overall)\

The companies have little say on where they want their ads to appear at, well, 30 millions over profiles and pages, it’s really hard to monitor which ads goes to which page. So I guess, it was set on rotation.

So you probably guess it, the companies did not want to convey the wrong message. Therefore they took their ads down.

On the other hand, [tag]MySpace[/tag] another [tag]popular social networking site[/tag] was commented satisfy for their safeguard precaution taken.

Hmm.. Facebook is going to lost a lot in their [tag]advertising revenue[/tag] if they don’t do something fast.

Today, something out of network marketing. I find this piece of information interesting, if you haven’t join Facebook or Myspace quickly go and sign up an account now to network with friends all over the world.

Talk to you soon.
